Overview

What is a furniture removal API?

A furniture removal API is an HTTP endpoint that digitally clears furniture and clutter out of a room photo, returning empty walls and floors you can restage. Pictastic's furniture removal endpoint does it from a single authenticated POST and refunds the credit automatically if the job fails.

How it works

Upload, call, collect

Image inputs live on Pictastic storage, so every job starts with a free presigned upload.

  1. 1

    Get a presigned upload URL

Ask for as many slots as you need, then PUT your image bytes straight to storage. This call is free — no credits.

  2. 2

    Call the endpoint you want

Pass the returned publicUrl as imageUrl. Staging, removal and upscaling all take the same input shape.

  3. 3

    Read the output URL

The response carries outputImageUrl and a downloadUrl, plus a jobId you can re-fetch later from the jobs history.

Why developers pick it

Built for restaging pipelines

Everything you evaluate a furniture removal endpoint on, stated as capabilities rather than adjectives.

Empty rooms, ready to restage

Removal returns clean walls and floors — the exact input the staging endpoint expects, so removal and restaging chain together with no editor in between.

1 credit, refunded on failure

You pay one credit per cleared image and get it back automatically if processing does not complete. You are never billed for our errors.

One input shape

Removal takes the same imageUrl as staging and upscaling, so switching between them is a one-line change in your code.

Synchronous, with a job trail

The POST returns the finished outputImageUrl directly, and every call records a jobId you can re-fetch later.

Part of one API

This is one operation of the virtual staging API

Staging, furniture removal and upscaling share one key, one input shape and one credit balance. See the full API overview, or jump to a related endpoint.

Furniture removal API FAQ

What is a furniture removal API?

A furniture removal API is an HTTP endpoint that digitally clears furniture and clutter out of a room photo, returning empty walls and floors you can restage. Pictastic's furniture removal endpoint does it from a single authenticated POST and refunds the credit automatically if the job fails.

Can I restage a room after removing the furniture?

Yes — that is the intended flow. Furniture removal returns an empty room, which you then pass straight to the virtual staging endpoint as the imageUrl. Both are part of the same API, so no re-upload is needed between the two calls.

How much does the furniture removal API cost?

Furniture removal is 1 credit per successful image, drawn from the same balance you use in the app, and requesting the upload URL is free. Any failed job is refunded automatically.

Can I control what gets removed?

The endpoint defaults to removing all furniture, and accepts an optional prompt if you want to steer what it clears. Full parameter details are in the API reference.
